The Cabildo site is located in the municipality of Cabildo, Petorca province, Valparaíso Region, 172 kilometers north of Santiago.
It processes 82,000 tons of ore per month from its own mine, ENAMI’s ore purchasing power, and third-party mines.
The Sauce Mine is operated using the sublevel stoping method, which consists of radial drilling using Simba electrohydraulic equipment.
The construction of advanced galleries is around seven hundred meters per month and is conducted with Jumbo Boomer electrohydraulic equipment.
The ore is transported in 40-ton payload trucks, only on roads owned by the company.
The Peñablanca Tailings Paste Deposit uses state-of-the-art technology to thicken tailings, ensure the stability of the deposits, and recover water, preventing pollution from wind action and infiltration into underground aquifers.
These tailings, derived from the Concentrator Plant, undergo a water extraction process, allowing the tailings to be deposited in paste form.
The plant includes the “Dam N° 4” tailings storage facility, which is in the process of being closed, and deposits N° 1, N° 2, and N° 3, known as “Forested Dam” because they contain tree species.
The Cabildo site has implemented environmental control measures that go beyond strict legal requirements. For this reason, in 1984, the reforestation of the tailing’s deposits began.
Other existing control measures are aimed at minimizing particulate matter emissions. These measures are monitored through an air quality monitoring network.
Other important aspects of Cabildo Mine Site’s environmental management include the control and monitoring of different environmental variables such as surface and groundwater, noise, soil, flora, and vegetation, as well as compliance with environmental commitments made during the environmental processing of projects that have received a favorable Environmental Qualification Resolution (RCA).
