History

1978

Las Cenizas Mining Group was founded on June 23, 1978, with the acquisition of mining properties and a mineral processing plant located in the Cabildo mining district, Region V of Valparaíso, Chile, giving rise to the Las Cenizas 1 de Cabildo Legal Mining Company.

1988

In 1988, the company successfully ventured into gold mining in the Alhué mining district in the Metropolitan Region.

1990

In 1990, the Copiapó Oxide Leaching Project was developed in the town of Carrera Pinto, III Region of Atacama, Chile.

1995

In 1995, the Las Luces Project, consisting of an underground mine and a concentrator plant, was launched in the Taltal mining district, Antofagasta Region.

2008

In 2008, the Altamira underground mine began operations 80 km northeast of the Taltal mining district.

2011

In 2011, the Óxidos Taltal Project, consisting of the Aguilucho Mine and a leaching plant, was launched.

2014

At the end of 2014, the Barreal Seco open pit mine, located within the city of Taltal, began operations.

2017

The Doña Elba I open pit mine, located within the city of Taltal, began operations.

2022

In 2022, the Las Cenizas Mining Group acquires the mines, open pit mines, and leaching plant of Minera Franke from its owner, KGHM.
