The Taltal site’s involvement in the activity was part of a public-private agreement to develop collaborative initiatives that benefit the environment.
Las Cenizas Mining Group, in collaboration with local institutions, companies, organizations, and students from the José Miguel Quiroz Technical High School, participated in a beach cleanup as part of Environment Month celebrations.
During the activity, students from the school’s environmental brigade, along with local residents, gathered at Tierra del Moro beach. There, they were organized into groups and guided by the Taltal Port Authority.
The event concluded with a quiz on environmental and historical subjects related to the community. Attendees were also given gifts and snacks.
“As a public-private environmental committee, we are committed to carrying out the activities scheduled in our calendar, such as this beach cleanup,” said our community manager, Vannesa Gutiérrez. She also thanked all the companies that make up this committee and the students from the Technical High School for contributing to the cleanup.
Roberto Díaz, Deputy Officer of Puerto Taltal, emphasized the collaborative effort, stating, “We are pleased to report that all members of this committee, along with schoolchildren from the community, participated in the cleanup of the beaches in the Tierra del Moro sector. Distinct types of trash were collected on site and subsequently removed by the municipal truck. During the activity, each group was divided into sectors: one on the south side and one on the north side, accompanied by members of the Port Company.
During the day, the Municipality of Taltal, the Port Authority, the “21 de Mayo” Hospital, Colbún, Promet, and other members of the public-private partnership were present. They offered support such as health stations, vaccinations, hydration, and contributions of reusable bottles and thermoses.
